Dear English Gardener:

Change the age (he is now 21) and age he started (15) and the sex (male),

and I have the same, almost exact situation.

I am walking right beside you and you are not alone.

Like you, I didn't cause, can't control it and can't fix it.

But I can do for myself, what my son cannot do for him.

I can be healthy and hopeful that if he ever recovers

I will be alive to see it and I won't let his addiction take me down.

Please don't let it take you down.

I am from Washington State, too. There are no meetings in my town. You are the second person I've met here who is from Washington.

When I saw my son at Christmas after 6 months it was as if I was looking at a zombie. Who was this child of mine? His eyes were empty, his body frame shrunken, and I hardly recognized him. It was such a shock after not seeing him for a period of time. If ever I had any doubt, it was now obvious that he was using and using very heavily.

Hugs to you, my friend. Since we are on the same time zone, if you ever feel like talking please give me a call.

I am on this road son had an absess over a year ago..i went to the ER with him that time I had no idea he was using kneedles...when the ER doc asked what happened he said he didnt know and I could not believe they didnt suggest that maybe he injected somthing or ask him about drug use or anything they said nothing...they also gave him morphine for pain and didnt ask him what else he was on !!!! It wasnt until later I realized what it was caused from. I dont have any meetings in my area either. I drove an hour to make my first f2f last week and the group leader said if I found a location they would come up here and start one. I hope you are able to make it to one of the ones Tako suggested it will be worth the drive. There are also online meetings here everynight. ((((Hugs)))))

I live in Wa state and also drive an hour to a Nar-anon meeting. Going to my second meeting tonight if my antibiotics will kick in. I have a sinus infection and don't relish driving an hour each way but after seeing my AD in jail yesterday I really need to go. Nar-anon meetings and reading the literature seem to be the only thing that makes sense right now.

I don't have Nar Anon where I live, but there are Al Anon meetings in practically every City. That's where I found recovery.
