"First Things First" "Easy Does It" "Keep It Simple"

Post by Melanie40 » Mon Jun 13, 2011 1:31 pm

I was asked to repost this after last nights meeting. It is from Today's Gift and it was shared with me and others yesterday by my Nar Anon Sister. For me, it is something I will keep in my SESH as a tool when I am feeling overwhelmed.

I can only assume it is from a 12 step program. The slogans definately are, but I am not sure if it is CAL approved so I am posting it here in the Friendship Section.

"First things first," "Easy does it," and "Keep it simple" are the
touchstones of our recovery. At first, we may grasp recovery like a
drowning person. We find that the harder we hold on to our life raft,
the harder it is to relax and stay afloat. Letting go a little, we
begin to trust that we won't sink. We learn to keep it simple and
concentrate on only one thing at a time. We surrender to our life raft
and trust that we will be gently carried ashore.

Keeping it simple means trusting others to help us. It allows us to
step out of the center of the universe and hold on gently to our
supportive friends and our own process of growth.

*Today let me get back to basics. Keeping it simple will keep me on the
right track.*

Thank you Melanie for posting this message. It is indeed a KEEPER.

Thank you, again, for sharing it with us at Sunday's meeting.

Very encouraging!
You can't think your way into a new way of living . . . you have to live your way into a new way of thinking.
