Partner in recovery after burns

Post by jackie1962 » Wed Aug 09, 2017 3:19 pm

Hi,
New here. Reading many moving stories of your lives. I am planning to get to Nar-Anon Family group in Richmond VA for support through horrid bottom my partner had passing out during smoking weed. She ended up in the burns ward for 3 weeks in February of this year. We were in the middle of moving when this happened. It has been hard but I'm putting one foot in front of the other taking it one day at a time. Minute to minute sometimes. She had developed a new habit of passing out while smoking. She lied to me so I did not realize what was happening until just before the final passing out. She is lucky to be alive. She is attending Narcotics Anon. Has sponsor. Is slowly recovering from horrid experience and horrid scarring. Now I realize I need to get support. We're seniors! So don't think it can't happen when you reach maturity.
Thanks for listening. Love to all. Jackie

Welcome to the forum! Everyone one here is dealing with the issues of having an addicted loved one. You will find lots of people who understand and will provide support. We have online meetings on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings at 8 pm Eastern. And you can post on the forum 24/7. You are not alone - keep coming back!
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

Welcome to the forum Jackie!
I'm so sorry to hear your LO suffered burns.
I know how incredibly painful burns can be.
Your LO in 12 steps with a sponsor!
You here ready to work 12 steps too!

My mom also became an addict in her 60's.
Her addiction was arrested when her Dr got
a room in prison and her new Dr helped!
Her only relapse JFT. An intentional OD.
My dad had passed on.

Now I have a RAS. I'm blessed with successes.
Miracles can happen in 12 step programs.
By working them for us and not for our LO.
They have their own working it to do.

Keep Coming Back and Work It, Your Worth It!

Hugs,

DAnn
