Okay.. so... music is like another outlet for me.. and for a lot of people I know. When you can't seem to find the words that fit.. that perfect song comes on.. and just..... spells it out for you! A few of my favorites... ( and I REALLY Hope this is not against the rules) are...
Wide Awake- Katy Perry This song TOTALLY Hit me one day and I just started bawling. I never realized that loving an addict, could make you feel like you're high, but not only do we know what it's like to feel the pain of coming down off of that love, unfortunatly we know the pain of coming off thier high with them. We have seen the pain, and felt it too. This opened my eyes up a bit!)[/color]
Wasted- Carrie Underwood This song hit me the other day. a young girl decides to leave her boyfriend because he can't stop drinking. She sets off on her path because she REFUSES to live her life this way anymore. Makes me realize that my life is worth SO much more than playing a supporting role in the saga that is my ALO!)
and i'm sure a few others will pop up along the way!
What songs express how you are feeling?!?! Good.. bad.. or otherwise?!?!

Well, the leader of the meeting last night (sorry, cannot remember nick) - talked about "How Do you Mend a Broken Heart"....omgosh, I've had that song on my mind since he talked about it. Put it on my playlist...
I'm not familiar with the ones you two mentioned - will look them up. (obviously, I'm a LOT older!)

Doesn't matter how old or young you are... we all speak to each other through our ESH, but sometimes... I know that songs.. can express things just as easily if not better and then expand through the generations.
I looked up the last song and I will look them all up!

Music is healing! I actually have several that came to mind. I like several different genres, and in all of them I can just forget every day cares.

Well, I listened to all of these - and added them to my playlist...
I loved Glass - had never heard it - or the artist. I had heard of Katy Perry and Carrie Underwood - but had not listened to any of their releases. Incredible lyrics.
I hope others share on this thread. I clearly am behind times with my music!
I also often listen to "somewhere over the rainbow" - Israel Kamkawiwo's version. In fact, listening now - LOUD. Upstairs in my room alone...perfect.

Music speaks to the heart, it's truly universal. My tastes run the gamut from classic rock, to Josh Groban, blues, jazz, symphony, depends on my mood.
One of my favorites is Foreigner's "That Was Yesterday"-
But that was yesterday
I had the world in my hands
But it's not the end of my world
Just a slight change of plans
That was yesterday
But today life goes on
No more hiding in yesterday
'Cause yesterday's gone
Another is Staind's "Falling"-
Falling is easy
It's getting back up that becomes the problem
Becomes the problem
And if you believe you can find a way out
Then you've solved the problem
You've solved your problem.

Rehab by Amy Winehouse. For some reason this song keeps reminding me that it is her choice, I cant force her into recovery. I cannot change her actions. I cannot change the out come. I am powerless over my daughters addiction. All I can do is work on my recovery. And I'm not saying NO NO NO to it.
