"Drive" by Incubus. I listen to this song daily. It is a powerful song for those in active addiction and those of us in recovery.

Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I'll let the fear
Take the wheel and steer

It's driven me before
And it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal
But lately I'm beginning to find
That I should be the one behind the wheel

Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there, I'll be there

So if I decide to waiver my chance
To be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine
And hold my own and drive?

It's driven me before
And it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around
But lately I'm beginning to find
That when I drive myself my life is found

So whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes
Whatever tomorrow brings I'll be there
I'll be there

Kris

Sarah Groves, "Tornado"

You live your life like a tornado.
Destruction follows everywhere you go.
And you have no plans to stop or slow (oh).
I will not let this bitter root grow in me.
I will not let you leave that legacy,
But it gets so hard when pain is all I see (oh).

And every time I find healing, you're making a new mess,
And I am learning the real meaning of forgiveness.

And I tried to remove myself from your path,
But I keep on waking up in the aftermath.
So I pick up again and say I won't look back (oh).
And I will not let this bitter root grow in me.
I will not let you leave that legacy,
But this constant fight is breaking me (oh).

And every time I find healing, you're making a new mess,
And I am learning the real meaning of forgiveness.

And it hurts when you hit at the hearts of the ones I love;
When everything you touch is rubble and dust.
And it gets so hard to know how to trust,
But I will not let that bitter root grow.
I will not let it, no no.
But it gets so hard (oh).

And every time I find healing you're making a new mess,
And I am learning the real meaning of forgiveness.
And I could move and never send you a forwarding address,
Or I could learn the real meaning of forgiveness.

When I get upset with my AH after his rants of abuse, I can get in the car, open the moon roof, and turn the music up wide open to: Good Girl by Carrie Underwood, Down to My Last Teardrop by Tanya Tucker, I Hate Myself for Loving You by Joan Jett, You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi, and Heartbreaker..... then after a few hours, I go back to my fears of losing him when I hear Faithfully, Open Arms, You're the Inspiration or Right Here Waiting for You and reach for the tissues again...... Oh the Emotions, My AH has no sympathy or concern for the struggles that weigh on my heart daily.....

I have found yoga and the principles to be instrumental in working my program and keeping me grounded on my journey.

Here are a few of my favorite and melodic mantras. Thanks to Siri, from my iphone who tells me what the name of the song is but won’t sing it and the app SoundHound for keeping a history and any software that has internet radio where I can set up my radios stations.

Krishna Das:
*A rendition of a Yardbirds song, For Your Love: Narayana/For Your Love
*A rendition of the ballad “I Want To Know What Love Is” by Foreigner: Sri Argala Stotram/Show Me Love
*Saraswati

Snatam Kaur Khalsa: Gobinday Mukunday

The artists Deva Premal, Girish

I am learning a new language!

"Everything Must Change" by Quincy Jones. The lyrics make me thing of some of our slogans or sayings: This, too, will pass. More will be revealed. Accept life on life's terms.

I feel like that Lee Brice song was specifically written with my AH in mind ;)

Gravity by Sara Bareilles is one of my favorite songs too

I think the song that speaks the most to me now, and has me in tears every single time is Burning House by Cam.

I had a dream about a burning house
You were stuck inside, I couldn't get you out
I laid beside you and pulled you close
And the two of us went up in smoke

Love isn't all that it seems I did you wrong
I'll stay here with you until this dream is gone

I've been sleepwalking, been wandering all night
Trying to take what's lost and broke and make it right
I've been sleepwalking too close to the fire
But it's the only place that I can hold you tight
In this burning house

See you at a party and you look the same
I could take you back but people don't ever change
Wish that we could go back in time
I'd be the one you thought you'd find

Love isn't all that it seems I did you wrong
I'll stay here with you until this dream is gone

I've been sleepwalking, been wandering all night
Trying to take what's lost and broke and make it right
I've been sleepwalking too close to the fire
But it's the only place that I can hold you tight
In this burning house

The flames are getting bigger now
In this burning house
I can hold on to you somehow
In this burning house
Oh, and I don't wanna wake up
In this burning house

And I've been sleepwalking, been wandering all night
Trying to take what's lost and broke and make it right
I've been sleepwalking too close to the fire
But it's the only place that I can hold you tight
In this burning house

The last verse of "in my mind" by amanda palmer:

And in my mind
I imagine so many things
Things that aren't really happening
And when they put me in the ground
I'll start pounding the lid
Saying I haven't finished yet
I still have a tattoo to get
That says I'm living in the moment
And it's funny how I imagined
That I could win this, win this fight
But maybe it isn't all that funny
That I've been fighting all my life
But maybe I have to think it's funny
If I wanna live before I die
And maybe it's funniest of all
To think I'll die before I actually see
That I am exactly the person that I want to be
