Yahoo! Let's Hear It for Natural Consequences....

With the understanding that addiction is a disease and the realization that we are powerless over it as well as over people's lives, we are ready to do something useful and constructive with our own.

Then, and only then can we be of any help to others.

Yahoo! Let's Hear It for Natural Consequences....

An update:
A few weeks ago, I reached out to my ex-AH to let him know that he was in violation of our divorce decree; he still owed a fair sum on a debt for which he is responsible. I sent him an email, warning that if it wasn't paid by April 1, he would be going back to court, and paying for it, as stipulated in the decree. I fully expected him to blow this off; I reached out to my attorney, and waited.

Lo and behold! He's paid all but $14 of the debt!! Yep all but $14. Why? It's always the same answer: Because he enjoys being a jerk. But, I don't care!!! I can afford the $14 and close the account. Yet another chink in my armor is now closed. And yes, he's finally learned that I will follow through and hold him accountable, even when nobody else does. I will not take on his responsibilities.

FYI, I sent him an email, letting him know he made a mistake and he should pay off that $14. But I did that for fun. And it was fun!
I don't care about that -- I just want to be done with him, and it will be the best $14 I have ever, EVER spent!

Victory lap now in progress....

Congratulations K! Check this off as the final chapter and close the books on the EX!!

That $14 you didn't have to spend to bring closure can buy a bottle of the champagne to pop at the end of your victory lap!!

Best of all--it didn't turn out to be an April Fools Day joke!!

Just four more years of mortgage payments to go. But I have a feeling after 1 trip to court and this one near-miss, he knows I'm not playing....the judges will be permanently on my side. Hallelujah! :D :D :D :D :D

Yay Carpediem I am glad all these great things are happening for you right now:). It must feel good to have some debt paid off and now you dont have to deal with him anymore. My alo owes me almost 2300 dollars but I doubt I will see a penny of it and there's no legal way for me to get it back from him.

Excellent. I love it! Glad to hear you held him to task and he did what he had to....well, almost ...do!

My exabf is still holding out on the childcare expenses I was awarded in court three years ago. He paid just enough so he wouldn't have to go to jail, right to the penny.

Happy for you, Kristin!

Frankly I am amazed. Amazed! I actually double-checked with my attorney to make sure the same language about him being responsible for court costs applies to the mortgage. This is a HUGE load off my mind!

That is the best $14 I have ever received! Oh, to be totally accurate, it's $14.10. (hee-hee)
