A note from my daughter

With the understanding that addiction is a disease and the realization that we are powerless over it as well as over people's lives, we are ready to do something useful and constructive with our own.

Then, and only then can we be of any help to others.

This is my first time on this site. Just one week since my son admitted to being dependent on opiates. Can't even think straight. Can't eat, sleep, work, or think about anything else. Have no idea where to turn or what to do.

and be happy that you got a nice note from your
sweet girl. Im sure she didnt mean to hurt you, I

what comes with addiction. Its great to hear a good

Dear Gerilyn,
Thank you for your inspiring, hopeful post. It sounds like you both are on your own paths to recovery, congratulations! I hope that one day my AD and I will be on the same path.

Thank you. I got a "call" from my AD today and she sounded pretty good. Wanted to call and tell me she "loves me".

The joys of just keeping it simple of day at at a time. When I am able to do this I feel such a burden lifted. From the seeds of your hope many beautiful blossoms of gratitude are spread. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

peace and love

Gerilyn:
What a wonderful post. My pregnant recovering daughter also has been the object of my concern for the past many months/years. I told her today that I was going to my face to face nar-anon meeting (which starts soon so I better get going) and she said.... "Why, I'm clean now, having a baby in 3 months and why do you need to go anyway".

I accepted the comment and said, "I go for me". Then she said in so many words , "Well can I go too, so there is a success story to tell instead of a sad share".

No, not tonight - "it is really just for me". Thank you nar-anon. Thank you my lovely pregnant daughter for still supporting "me" on this journey.

A note like that would make me smile from ear to ear. That "cheek hurting" kind of smile. :D

Oh Geri, how awesome. I'm so glad you had a good day. You deserve a million of them. I hope things continue to improve!
