It works if they work it - it works if we work it.

With the understanding that addiction is a disease and the realization that we are powerless over it as well as over people's lives, we are ready to do something useful and constructive with our own.

Then, and only then can we be of any help to others.

We went on our cruise and had some things happen that were unexpected, but were they really? These I will save for another time....as I am still thinking them through.

This trip I got over some long standing issues that had lingered for years - I expressed to the person that I considered responsible (she was not) that I was over it. I'm surprised it took me so many years - in my defense - it was big, a huge hurt - to people I loved. Today I feel lighter and happier and I think she does as well. I needed to accept this person was not responsible. This.is.done.

Naranon led the way for me to do this.

Very inspiring!
Family is complicated. Often someone is a curse one day, and a blessing the next.
So glad you were open to the healing of your relationship with your SD.
And hope you enjoyed the cruise!

Pat

What a great story!!!

Thanks so much for sharing it. You're an inspiration!
My son's addiction is something that happened TO HIM. It is NOT something he did TO ME.
