abused by the disease

With the understanding that addiction is a disease and the realization that we are powerless over it as well as over people's lives, we are ready to do something useful and constructive with our own.

Then, and only then can we be of any help to others.

Welcome to the Forum. I was "abused" by my son's disease for a long time, until I had had enough and walked into a Nar-Anon meeting. That is where I learned I had choices. I could let addiction drag me down, or I could let go and let god.

It didn't happen over night and it wasn't easy, but today I am much more at peace. I mostly accept things as they are and focus on changing the things I can. It doesn't always work. I have good days and bad days, but many more good than bad.

Have you found a meeting in your area yet? I find so much support and wisdom there.

Keep coming back.
The only wrong way to work this program is to not work it.
