FORUM Guidelines....please read this reminder

With the understanding that addiction is a disease and the realization that we are powerless over it as well as over people's lives, we are ready to do something useful and constructive with our own.

Then, and only then can we be of any help to others.

FORUM Guidelines....please read this reminder

Postby DianeB » Fri May 11, 2012 10:51 am

Under Announcements, there is much information. Well worth the
few moments it takes to read and review.

Coming here as a newcomer means coming in chaos and pain. I did
not have time to read the Guidelines or any of the announcements.
I just needed to read and share my E S & H.

It is in loving service that I ask you all to please review the guidelines
and all other material contained under announcements. I have posted
a portion of the guidelines here to help all understand why some posts
have been edited.

Guidelines for membership in and participation on the Forum have been developed over time to provide some general ground rules for the Forum and its members. A moderating team of active Forum members, working a Nar-Anon program, with a Nar-Anon sponsor, were appointed by Area 10 to ensure that basic guidelines are followed and to oversee the day-to-day functions of the Forum.

There are just a very few areas that should be avoided in accordance with our Traditions, Concepts and Destructive Forces. We do not:

Discuss Alternative programs (including prescribed prescription alternatives) that are not 12 Step

Discuss particular religious or political views

Make personal attacks

Use disrespectful language

Curse

Engage in "crosstalk" in a thread

Post non Nar-Anon websites in our profiles, in posts, responses or in chat room shares

Refer to Non-CAL material anywhere on Forum (including Friendship and Grieving) and in the Chat room*

Post under more than one name/identity

Advise: we can only suggest by telling how we solved similar problems through our experiences, strength and hopes.

Gossip about others, including the addict. The careless discussion of other people’s personal difficulties is contrary to the principles of our program. We know that nobody wants to deliberately tear down the group or its principles. WHAT YOU SEE HERE - WHAT YOU HEAR HERE, WHEN YOU LEAVE HERE - LET IT STAY HERE.

Tradition 11 tells to protect the anonymity of all members, so that we can all feel safe to say what we need to. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions.

* Posts that include quotations from non-conference approved literature, will be allowed as part of a Nar-Anon based share. If you read something, it becomes part of your experience, strength and hope. Sharing this is encouraged. Please avoid directly quoting more than 2-3 sentences due to copyright laws. If you do quote, please ensure you share your experience, strength and hope from the quotation without mentioning the Non CAL source/author.
with Love

Reading this again, just because I need to remember:

1. I came here sick & broken.

2. I came here to get answers.

3. I came here to find another way, because what I was doing wasn't working.

4. I came here for my addicts, I stay here because the wisdom of others keeps me on track.

5. Life has a series of guidelines - mine are the 12 Steps & 12 Traditions.

6. This Forum works when we all use the guidelines.

7. I need this Forum to work.

8. I need your wisdom and guidance and support every day.

9. This program works - only if we work it. Life sucks, if we don't.

10. I am grateful for this Program, this Forum, these people who come and share their experiences, strengths and hopes!

I have a question: The guidelines here and in my f2f meetings say that gossip about others including the addict is not to be engaged in. Forgive me, but I'm not sure I know what gossip means here. It seems that I think about that sometimes when I am writing about something that my AH does.

I appreciate any clarifications folks might have.
